This incredible journey will take the travellers from Kham, the heart land of the legendary Tibetan Warrior Nomads - the Khampas to the capital of Tibet, Lhasa - Abode of Gods with its ancient monasteries and temples and the amazing Potala Palace, the seat of the Dalai Lama's of Tibet. This stunning southern route is best traversed in September and October moving upland from Chengdu to traverses the high plains of Kham crossing several 4,000 metre passes, then dropping down to the lower lands through lush green alpine valleys and gushing gorges. You will feel the grandeur of the limitless horizons, breath-taking peaks and hidden monasteries, where the people of Tibet are as beautiful and proud as history has painted them. This is the most unsurpassed scenic and dramatic route to cross from East Tibet to Central Tibet.
Some of the highlights on the way include the spectacular Litang Horse Racing Festival, camping with nomadic families and going on a horse riding trek.
